Welcome to Vakizungu Ent.

At our heart we believe farming and trade are about people. By cultivating the land, raising healthy livestock, processing and adding value to our carcasses, meat, crops, fruits and vegetables as well as sharing modern farming skills, we help communities grow stronger and more self-reliant.

Beyond the farm, we connect businesses in Kenya and other parts of the world, opening doors for opportunity and collaboration for mutual benefit. Together, we’re not just building markets — we’re building a future rooted in connection, sustainability, and shared prosperity.

The Inspiration Behind Vakizungu Ent

1. Our Roots

Like many African families, ours traces its origins to a single tribe.

Our story begins in the hills of western Kenya, where our parents—both from the Maragoli community—started their journey.

Life later led them to Nairobi, where we were born and raised.

While we stayed connected to relatives both in Nairobi and upcountry, our childhoods were shaped by the city’s diversity—surrounded by friends from different tribes, cultures, and races.

2. A Blended, Evolving Family

As we grew older, our family expanded into an even more beautiful blend.

We married spouses from various tribes, countries, and backgrounds.

Some family members eventually settled abroad while others remained in Kenya.

Over time, the busyness of life meant we began to drift apart.
Each family unit followed its own path, and opportunities for our children to bond or for us to reconnect became increasingly rare.

3. A Reunion That Sparked a Vision

In November 2024, we gathered in Nairobi to honour the life of our eldest sibling, who had recently passed on.
Family members traveled from different parts of the world, and during this heartfelt reunion, we were reminded of the strength of our bond.
It was in this moment of reflection that the idea of creating a family legacy company took shape.

Something that would provide opportunities, security, and empowerment for our children, grandchildren, and generations to come.

4. Honouring Our Mother’s Legacy

We hoped to name the company after our mother, the quiet pillar who held our family together for decades.

She never sought the spotlight, yet she observed everything with clarity and compassion. She had an extraordinary ability to sense conflict early and gently guide us back to peace.

Our father supported her wholeheartedly, forming a steady foundation for all of us.

When we attempted to register the company under her name, we were surprised to find it already in use in Kenya.

It was a difficult moment for many of us, as we felt her name symbolized the heart of our legacy. It felt like a piece of our dream slipping away.

Some of us still haven’t fully recovered from that disappointment – this is what you would call ‘A Mothers’ Quiet Strength!’

5. The Name That Found Us: i.e. Why “Vakizungu”?

We chose our second option: Vakizungu—the name of our mother’s clan.

Through it, we maintain a deep connection to her heritage and to our broader family history.

It is a name that carries identity, strength, and belonging, and we believe it will anchor our vision for generations to come.

6. Growing Beyond the Farm

Today, with a family spread across continents, and we see our diversity as a source of strength.

By combining our different experiences, knowledge, and skills…
We believe Vakizungu ENT will grow far beyond the farm and into new spaces where our collective potential can flourish – a family embracing the world!

Vision

To build a generational legacy rooted in community empowerment and sustainable growth.

Mission

To transform agriculture and community development through innovation, collaboration, and heritage-based values.

The Values That Guide Us

Our values are deeply rooted in the traditions of our Maragoli heritage—farming, community, and sharing the harvest. This grounding inspires our commitment to community building.

We aim not only to grow crops, but to grow people: connecting businesses, creating opportunities, and uplifting communities in sustainable and meaningful ways. This is the legacy we hope to build – will build bridges that will serve future generations in alignment with our family legacy:

That our children and their children will know where they come from.
That they will inherit not just wealth, but unity.
Not just a business, but a legacy of love and togetherness.
